About Middle Lane Hoggers Anonymous
What MLHA Does
Middle Lane Hoggers Anonymous (MLHA) is an immersive rehabilitation and education platform for drivers who persistently sit in the middle lane of the motorway when the left lane is clear. We exist because lane-hogging is not a minor quirk of driving style; it is a measurable cause of motorway congestion, friction, and serious collisions. Our mission is simple: recovery, not punishment — to move the middle-lane hogger back to the left lane, where the Highway Code says they belong.
Classroom Theory and Practical Motorway Training
The platform combines classroom-based theory with practical, accompanied motorway training. The classroom session can be attended online via Microsoft Teams or Zoom and covers the Highway Code, the cost of lane-hogging to other road users, and the psychology of habitual motorway behaviour. The practical session is a ninety-minute accompanied drive on a real UK motorway, coaching the driver to read the road ahead, return to the left lane after overtaking, and leave the motorway flow unobstructed. Booking, payment, and gift vouchers are handled entirely through this site.
Who MLHA Is For
MLHA is built for two audiences. The first is the persistent hogger themselves — the driver who has picked up the habit and genuinely does not realise the danger and frustration it causes. The second is the people who care about them: partners, family members, and work colleagues who would rather gift a course in safe lane discipline than keep riding the brakes behind an empty middle lane. That is why every gift voucher comes with a printable certificate labelled “One Chance At Salvation.”
Who Builds MLHA
MLHA was founded in 2013 and is built and maintained by a small UK team of qualified driving instructors, road-safety educators, and software developers. The programme draws on published enforcement data, the Road Traffic Act 1988, and emerging camera-based detection technology. We are independent of any motoring insurer or enforcement authority; our only product is a safer, calmer motorway for everyone who shares it.
